Now we are digging in a little deeper. Sentence Replacement is our focus this time.
As the name implies this is how it is done correctly.
As stated in earlier posts the key is simple; Make it sound as natural as possible. That was easy. I guess I am done with this now. Well, not quite.
Even though this can be thought of as the easiest of the replacement processes there is one problem. Flow. If we are just replacing single sentences not in paragraph form then yes there will not be a problem with this process.
However, if we are doing sentence replacement for a paragraph then VERY special care needs to be taken so as to preserve the way the paragraph flows together. Let us look at the paragraph:
People suffering regular episodes of heartburn know what acid reflux is and depending on the severity of the suffering, know it is no fun to have. Essentially, gastroesophageal reflux disease, GERD, is when liquids in the stomach are pushed back into the esophagus and the stomach acid causes irritation to the esophageal lining. Most commonly referred to as heartburn, acid reflux is sometimes mistaken for a heart attack.
This is a good paragraph.
Now, I split the paragraph up into three sentences. I then rewrote each sentence four times. I then recompiled the sentences to be spun into a new paragraph. Here is one example:
Defining Acid Reflux Helps Prevent It Heartburn, acid reflux, call it what you will. If you have it regularly, you know it is not fun! When stomach liquids and acids are reverted into the esophagus, this causes irritation to esophageal lining, and this is known as GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid Reflux which is also known as heartburn can produce symptoms which mimic those of a cardiac arrest.
In my opinion, this does not sound convincing enough. While I was trying to decide which one to include here I kept hitting my rewrite button but I never got a warm feeling for any of the results.
Here is the problem as I see it. If a sentence will be standing by itself then then this is a great method to use. However, the more sentences you start introducing into the paragraph then more care needs to be taken to ensure Flow between thoughts. Remember, a paragraph is a collections of thoughts that generally makeup an idea. But definitly they need to flow together.
Next time I will delve into Paragraph Replacements.
