How about giving me a Tweet?
I just did a search on Google for “Legitimate Spinning” to get a more public opinion on Spinning in regards to Content, Articles, Blog Post and probably Blog Comments. You might be surprised by what I learned at least I was. To further confirm my discovery I also searched on other terms close to the subject and those results just added to the surprise.
According to the Top Ten positions in Google for the terms Legitimate, Legal and Correct Spinning there are no hard fast rules dictating the proper uses of Spinning.
So why am I surprised?
Spinning has been around for a while at lease as long as Screen Scraping. Most of us would agree that screen scraping inconjunction with spinning is not a good marriage. I would go further to say that the two together is a form of colusion. Certainly Spinning can be used for bad purposes but when you combine it with a negative process it suddenly becomes corrupt.
The theory behind Spinning is quite simple. It is a process where similar words/phrases/sentences/paragraphs can be switched out with equally themed words to create a new content/article. The overall trick is to keep the meaning of what is being switch with what it is being replaced with.
For Example:
My dog can run across the yard very fast.
How any variations can you come up with? Here are 10 of mine:
My bedlington terrier can run across the park very quick.
My boston bull can rush across the yard very quick.
My boxer can run across the park very prompt.
My bull terrier can scoot across the courtyard very quickly.
My bulldog can hustle across the courtyard very quickly.
My chihuahua can move across the yard very speedily.
My doberman pinscher can move across the field very swiftly.
My english toy spaniel can hustle across the park very speedy.
My fox terrier can walk across the park very promptly.
My golden retriever can move across the courtyard very speedy.
Now here are the Stats. Doing a comparison I ended up with a uniqueness of 57.5% between wach of the ten. Now there were two that fell below my 50% mark but overall not too bad.
To make it more unique what could I do?
How about the word “My”?
I can tell you changing “My” did improve the stats for uniqueness. In fact I only had one below 50%.
So what does this have to do with Legitimate Spinning?
It is my opinion that Spinning can be done in a legitimate manner and be completely acceptable. Now that is a nice statement. However, there are still some grey areas. Should you copy someone elses work and then spin it. I would not do that nor do I condone it. For one reason, the idea. The person who came up with that original work well that is their idea, concept or design. Its an original from them.
So while this maybe a grey are for peole. I am sure many will still cross the line a copy, forge and still others hard work. As for me, I think you know where I stand. Integrity means a lot to me.
