So who is Buddy Shearer?

I am Buddy Shearer.  I have been working in the IT field for more than 25 years.  Yep, I'm a dinasour.  I was working as a computer room operator when the first IBM Personal Computer was introduced.  I even had an Apple computer before I ever had a PC.  I know, we were stupid back then.

I started work in computer operations in a bank in SC mostly on night shift.  I read manuals, played with the compliers, the operating system, and learned JCL the hard way.  In fact, (not to brag) but I became very proficient at reading JCL that I could pick out errors before most of the programmers could find their own errors.

My biggest claim to fame came when I learned how to circumvent mainframe security (ACF2).  I learned how to shutdown ANY mainframe remotely, delete the SYSLOGs and completely hide my tracks.  No, I don't advocate teaching these techniques because I actually discovered and reported these as security exposures within my job as an IT Auditor.

So, are these techniques still able to shutdown or bypass security still a possibility?  You bet they are!  IBM has not upgraded MVS/XA to stop these exposures.

Back to the story.

So now I am into Web anything.  Why?  Why not?

I lost my job and so I saw this as an opportunity to spread my wings.

On this site you see many of my passions as it relates to computers, internet, security, and my family.  My closest friends know that I test and recommend software and when they have computer problems, well, they call me.  Basically, I have learned through the years (the hard way) that it's not about me.

So if you want to go through a change of heart anda mental attitude adjustment then I suggest Rick Warren's "It's not about you".

So as you go through this site you will notice that I maintain several websites.  This is my contribution to myself to expand my  knowledge of Search Engine Optimization or SEO. I am all about SEO, AdSense and Affiliate Marketing.  So if the site looks a bit odd then that is why.

However, the reviews, alerts and recommendations are current.  So keep coming back and if you would like me to research a topic drop me a note.  Maybe I've done it and it just hasn't been posted yet.

One more item.  If you send me a note and I don't respond.  Don't take offense.  Not only do I get a TON of junk mail but I also go on Mission Trips.  I have been to Hungary, Jamacia, and now China.  My son and I just got back from 3 weeks in China, where we worked in Xi'an and visited Beijing before returning home.  If I get a little time I will post a site highlighting some of our travels.
