I was speaking to some friends and they were asking me some Internet questions and then I made the comment that they should look at my blog. They ask me my domain and I said “Just go to Google and type my name in and press enter. You will see me then.”
That blew their mind. “How in the world did you do that?” was their next question.
I told them that it was pretty easy.
I then told them that I was working to take over the top spot for jut my first name “Buddy”. They liked that part and laughed as well.
One of the questions was “What is the point?”
For me there is no point. I just like a challenge. To see if I can.
Like climbing mountain, “Why do you do it?” Then answer was “Because it is there.”
I can identify with that.
You see in the SEO world the experts say you should not tackle anything that is not attainable within a short time frame. IMHO, the SEO Tactics that I use are just the basic steps that I learned a couple of years ago.
So for me, I can find my site within the 600’s of the available thousand that Google shows when searching for my name. And that has just started happening within the last month when I started this. Before that I was not even on the grid.
So when you look at the 7 million 480 thousand sites with “Buddy” on a web page and I can float up to 600 or so in a month then that tells me that I can do much better. Now the tasks has picked up.
There are a few things that I follow to help push me along.
The domain name is important; I have that piece covered since my name is in that. Making sure my name is in the Title portion of the page as well as the keyword meta tag is also important. I then make sure it is in the H1 tag of the Blog as well as in the Alt tags of any pictures that I am using.
Next building pages with my name being in the filename itself and being associated with Tags inside the blog. Very important!
Finally, while doing all of this other stuff is important it is still not enough to overtake the current place holders. Now is the time to start a serious backlinking process.
Now backlinks are nothing more than Text Links but the text being hyperlinked will have my name in it.
It’s almost a case of the more you have the higher you will go.
But revelancy does play a part.
So in my case, “Buddy”. I think I am an expert on the subject so relevancy should not be a problem.
I do consider myself in great company should I pull this off. Buddy Holly, Buddy Rich and of course Buddy Ebsen; all great Buddy’s but I think I have a slight advantage. I’m still breathing.
