The Muffler Trip – Good Friends having a Blast

I have this friend who I will refer to as N and he is one of my closest friends.  At one point in my professional life he was my boss.  We were the only two guys in the department so we had a good time.

Well we were on a trip in North Carolina in one of the company cars.  It was one of those big monsters.  I don’t recall the make or model I just remember it was huge.

We were on our way to a conference in the NC area so we were driving along when all of a sudden we hit a bump in the road and then we heard some noise in the back of the car.

Now since it wasn’t our car and we were not all that worried we just kept driving along.  Now it was night when this happened but we started to get some funny looks when people started to pass us.  Some were just looking at us with a blank smile, some were pointing to the back of the car, some pretended to not even see us.

At any rate we decide to pull over to see what was the matter.

As it turned out the muffler was dragging.

For whatever reason it was just dragging.  So we tried to pull it off.

We pulled and pulled but that thing was not going to come off.  So we resorted to another tactics.  We backed the car up to a curb and tried to ram it off with the weight of the car.

Instead of breaking off, it just created a pole vault effect and lifted the car up of the ground.

Well, we about died of laughter.  After we composed ourselves we tried again.  Same thing and more laughing.

Now at this point we realized that we are on an abandoned parking lot next to a car dealership and there were pepole there looking at cars.  They did not bother to come over and help so we started talking louder and saying things like “We will never buy another car from his place if the muffler won’t fall off”.   Stupid stuff like that.

The more looks we got the more laughing we did.

At one point I looked in the car and did not see N.  Well, he was doubled over in the front seat laughing so hard.  We both had tears coming down while we were laughing.

We ended up leaving but we did notice that we made matters worse.  The muffler was hanging down lower which meat there was more dragging.

So while we were traveling down the road we could see a long set of sparks.  When we saw that there was even more laughing.

We ended up getting the muffler off but it took us a while and even more laughing.

Its those kinds of stories that make good friends and their continued friendship to last.

Thanks N!  You are an “Ultimate Buddy” and I am glad you are my friend!

All Car Companies should have came forward with a full disclosures of what car were dangerous. Instead of waiting for a huge media blitz and tons of public pressure. I never seen so many car companies GM – NISSAN – TOYOTA – HYUNDAI having recalls all at the same time. I had no idea my car was affected until I looked on http://www.carpedalrecall.com and found I had a bad Anti Lock control unit on my 2008 Pontiac G8 , my co workers Ford Truck had a recall also. So be careful
